Purpose
The Section on State Constitutional Law will organize scholars whose work revolves around the interpretation, application, modification, development, and understanding of subnational constitutions in the United States. The Section will collaborate with other organizations and entities active in the space to create and foster a scholarly community around research into state constitutions, and will provide scholars with opportunities to both present their work and to join the field—including by hosting an annual junior-senior virtual conference and panels at the AALS annual meetings focused on (1) rights and liberties and (2) the structure and development of state constitutions.
